Number of invention patents granted in China rises 78% in January-February

Businesses register intellectual property most of all

In January-February 2024, the number of granted patents for inventions in China rose by more than 78 per cent year-on-year. This is reported by Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.

The office's report said that 152,258 invention patents were granted in China in the first two months of this year, with corporate patents accounting for the most.

The registration of intellectual property by universities, research institutes and individuals shows much less dynamics.

The number of utility model patents and industrial design patents declined compared to the same period last year, bringing the total number of documents in these three categories down 10 per cent year-on-year.
