MKR Media is the UN’s first official informational partner in Russia

MKR Media, a communications holding that includes the International TV BRICS network, has signed an agreement with the United Nations making it the official information partner of the UN in Russia.

Under the agreement, the UN Department of Public Information will provide MKR Media with multimedia content to use in its outreach activities.

The move will allow the communications holding to raise awareness in the BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) of UN agenda and its achievements.
The informational material to be provided will consist of stories and articles detailing the work of the UN and its agencies throughout the world, as well as the UN’s peacekeeping efforts and projects to fight poverty and human suffering, battle disease, provide humanitarian aid and stimulate economic growth.

“The agreement with the UN Secretariat is welcome news. MKR Media is, in a sense, a pioneer among Russian media, due to the company’s innovative approach. Prospects for strengthening ties are really impressive, as the UN sees communications with the outside world as a strategic goal and offers its partners a very large amount of topical information,” said Alexander Gorelik, TV BRICS Director for cooperation with international organizations.

MKR Media has already begun its collaboration with the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) with the goal of creating a Common Informational Space in the wider Black Sea area, which, along with Russia, includes 11 countries: Armenia, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Greece, Georgia, Albania, Ukraine, Moldova, Serbia, Bulgaria and Romania. This project is meant to be a first step toward long-term communications cooperation among Black Sea states.

Since its launch in 2017, TV BRICS, with a potential audience of 3.5 billion, has created an extensive network of information partners. Agreements are in place with some of the largest information agencies in the BRICS countries, such as China Radio International, Xinhua, Renmin Ribao, and the South African ANA (African News Agency).
